News & Announcements / Hosting for 2019
« on: June 09, 2019, 01:57:15 PM »
Hi all.

I've just renewed our hosting for 2019. We're good until June 19. 2020 now. The hosting is pretty costly and I just forked out 214 EUR. If anyone would like to help cover the cost it would be greatly appreciated. Every little bit helps.

I've set up a PayPal Pool for this here:

HUD & UI / UI Button Toggle Logic
« on: July 24, 2018, 05:02:27 PM »
Hi all.

It's been a while since I was modding, but in the last few days I've started working on a small project. One mod I'm trying to do is to make a simple show/hide toggle for the in-game side tabs.

I can make the tabs show and hide with a standard button, but I can't figure out the logic on how to do it with a toggle button. I guess it's not so hard, but I can't wrap my head around it... I've tried looking at some logic, but the once I've found contains more than what I'm looking to do, so I get confused.

Once I know how to use the toggle button, I need to figure out how to prevent the tabs from showing again after the side panels have been opened. I'm guessing this can be done with the Game State Controller some how.

Any help or pointers to example mods are appreciated.

News & Announcements / Service update
« on: June 14, 2018, 03:56:07 AM »
Hi all.

I've done some long overdue maintenance to our services, so everything is now running the latest versions. I've also increased the security of the registration process a bit, as we've seen an increase in spam here on our forums.

All upgrades went well, but if you notice any issues, please let me know. Also keep reporting spam posts, so Phanjam and I can take action to ban accounts and remove the spam.

Hello fellow TorchModders.

Our server hosting will expire in 30 days and we need to renew the service to continue this forum and website. I know I should have set up system for continues donations with monthly goals etc, but I keep forgetting to do this, so here we are again with a months notice... I'm sorry.  :-[

The hosting fee is pretty expensive. The total cost is 155.40 EUR for 12 months. I can not make this payment this time. I have no chance of doing so with my current economy.

I am willing to transfer the domain to someone else, if there's anyone is up for the task of hosting us. I will provide all the help I can with copying over the forums, wiki, etc.

You can donate to my PayPal here: but I think we should discuss alternative options too.

News & Announcements / Renew hosting again
« on: May 21, 2017, 01:26:32 PM »
Hello boys and girls.

It's time, (in 30 days) to renew our hosting subscription again. Our service expires June 19. And I have to fork out 139.80 EUR to keep us running for another year.

Last time we did this I downgraded our hosting plan, to reduce the price a bit. I have upgraded the plan again after this to be able to host more than one domain, so Torchmodders should not cover the entire amount, as I'm also hosting other personal projects on the same plan. But if you guys could help me out a bit to keep the site running, it would be greatly appreciated. I will cover the rest.

Suggestions & Feedback / Bug tracker
« on: June 13, 2016, 07:21:35 PM »
Hi all.

I think I've mentioned/suggested this before, but I'll bring it up again, as it seems relevant to the process we're in with TL1CP.

Do you guys feel the need for a real bug tracker? I can probably set one up pretty easy. Would it help in the process of keeping track of bugs, or would it just be one more thing to pay attention too?

Please voice your opinions.

News & Announcements / Hosting about to expire
« on: May 22, 2016, 07:56:20 PM »
Torchmodders. Your attention please!

UPDATE: I've changed our hosting plan and we're down to 95.40 for 12 more months of hosting.

Our hosting plan is about to expire (Jun 19.) and we need to renew it, or find another host. At our current host (Siteground) it will cost 139.80 to continue the current hosting plan (GrowBig) for 12 more months. The domain won't need renewal before Aug 7. Which will cost an additional 11.95.

If I had the money to burn I would just pay it and not fuss about it at all, but being unemployed, (since December last year) makes it a bit harder for me to fork out the cash right now. So I need some help from you guys to either help me pay for the current hosting or find a cheaper solution for hosting the site.

I would prefer to get the hosting price down, as I think our current plan is way too expensive. Even if this requires some work compared to just clicking a "renew" button.  So, does anyone of you know about a good quality and cheap host we could transfer the domain and our web services to? (We're running on Joomla, SMF and DokuWiki)

News & Announcements / Shoutbox disabled
« on: January 20, 2015, 02:15:18 PM »
Hi all.

After a message from our hosting provider, I've disabled the ShoutBox as it was draining too much CPU resources for our current hosting plan. Not sure if it's the auto refresh feature causing all the use, or the module itself, but I've disabled it now, so we're allowed to keep the forum running, without having to change to a dedicated and ten times more expensive hosting plan.

Dear Kenneth,

With this notification we would like to inform you that our in-house Website Performance Monitoring System (WPMS) has signaled that your account constantly uses a large amount of the server's CPU resources. These excessive requests consume an abnormally high amount of CPU resources and endanger the overall performance of the shared server.

Your account consumed more than 34300 CPU executions for the last 24 hours.

Violated terms of service:
No more than 20,000 script or program executions for any given calendar day;

SiteGround's servers use stable hardware, as well as custom developed load-balancing monitoring system. This is why we let our accounts utilize even more CPU resources than the industry standard allows.

Unfortunately, your website's server resource usage is not suitable for a shared hosting server and that is why we will no longer be able to host it there. In order to ensure the stability of the server and all accounts hosted on it, we had to permanently limit the shared server resources your account can use.

We do understand the inconvenience this issue may cause you, but please look at the situation from our point of view - your account constantly uses more resources than the shared server allows and as a result the performance of all accounts hosted on the server has been affected. In such cases we must take the necessary measures to protect all websites hosted on the server. This is a standard procedure used by all shared hosting providers.

A dedicated solution will be much more suitable for your website and will provide you with exclusive server resources needed by a website of this scale to function and grow freely. If you choose to upgrade to a higher plan, we recommend our Cloud and Dedicated servers:

- Premium Managed Dedicated Servers ( )
- Cloud Hosting Designed for High Performance ( )

Thank you for your understanding. We hope this case will be solved in the best interest for both parties.

EDIT: Here's how I know it was the ShoutBox.
Hello Kenneth,

The high CPU usage is generated by the ShoutBox module that you use for the forum In your case you will need to disable this module as it generates too much CPU usage.

General Chat / Missing in Action
« on: January 04, 2015, 02:37:27 AM »
Hi all.

As you've probably noticed, I've been pretty inactive here lately. I'm still about, but I've been so hung up in playing Quake Live since it's release on Steam, that I do little else when I've got time off.  :o I used to play a lot of Quake 3 back in the day and the bug has bit me again... ::)

Nothing much else to report really. Good to see you're making progress with the projects here.  :)

General Chat / Zero inspiration and feeling depressed
« on: October 13, 2014, 01:45:36 PM »
I've been feeling so uninspired to do anything constructive or creative lately. I can't really say why, but I've got the Mondays everyday now, and I have been feeling like this for a while.

I've also been loosing a lot of weight, something like 10kg over the last months, so my jeans are starting to fall down and I look like I'm into hip-hop because of my saggy pants.  :( I used to workout (kettlebells and running) 3-4 days a week, but since July I've only been able to do an occasional run every now and then.

I feel weak both mentally and physically. I have no drive for anything, all I want to do is just sit alone and zone-out with whatever mind numbing entertainment I can find. I'm an introvert, so this is to some degree natural for me when I need to recover, but I'm borderline misanthropic at this point.

It's not the first time I'm feeling down, but this is starting to get ridiculous as I feel there's no real reason for me to be like this, at least not for this long.

So, how do you guys cope or get back on track when you're down? Therapy and/or prescription drugs is not really my style. (I haven't seen a doctor since 2007)

Over at Torchlight 2 Rama there are some nice pictures off all armor sets in TL2. I use these as inspiration for classes and as a reference when adding wardrobes to classes.

Torchlight Arena - Public Board / [IDEA] TLA Game Modes
« on: September 17, 2014, 07:09:55 PM »
Just a place to store and brainstorm game mode ideas. Some of these ideas might not be possible to do and most of these are not my own ideas, but taken from other games.

Bounty Hunter

Objective: Have the most gold at game end.

Teams: No

All player start with X amount of gold. Once a player is killed, it will drop the gold it has for others to pick up. (All of it or just a % of it?) If the player killed has zero gold, it will drop a small default amount of gold.  The player with the most gold will have a special unit theme, marking it as a high value target for the rest of the players.

It would be nice if the HUD could display what each player is worth.

V.I.P. Escort

Objective: Escort an NPC from point A to B with in the time limit.

Teams: Yes

Each team takes turn escorting an NPC from point A to B, while the opposing team is trying to kill and/or stop the VIP from reaching its goal.

Capture the Flag (CTF)

Classic CTF
Objective: Capture the flag in the opposing teams base and bring it back to your own flag in your own base to score a point.

Teams: Yes

Description: This is the classic version of CTF we all know. One flag in each base. If a flag carrier is killed the flag is dropped at that location. The flag will remain in the dropped location until another player of the same team picks it up. If player picks up his/her own flag which is loose, the flag returned to the base again.

One Flag CTF
Objective: Capture the neutral flag in the middle of the arena and bring it to the opposing teams base to score a point.

Teams: Yes

Description: This mode has only one neutral flag in the centre of the map. The teams needs to take the flag and bring it to the opposing teams base to score points. If a flag carrier is killed, the flag is dropped at that location. Any team can pick up the flag at the dropped location and try to score in the enemy base.

Attack & Defend
Objective: Each team takes turns attacking or defending. The attacking teams objective is to take the flag in the defending teams base and bring it back the the home base to score a point.

Teams: Yes

Description: Only the flag in the defending teams base can be captured. The flag in the attacking teams base can not be taken. A defending player can not bring their flag back home if a flag carrier is killed and the flag is dropped. The flag will stay in the dropped location, until an attacking player picks it up or the round is over.
