Variant Classes Mod Information

Mod Description
This is a compilation of high quality custom classes made by various modders.

I was disappointed with the current class mod pack as they were either didn't include my favorite classes or their classes were outdated or buggy. Eventually I decided to learn about merging mods by my own.

Special thanks to @gytfunke, @Phanjam and @doudley for sharing their modding knowledge that helped me to create this mod.

All credit goes to the respective author of the mods, but only some permission were granted.
I merely compile these mods together and fixed some bugs that were still exist.

Kindly drop by these authors' mod pages and rate their mod as a sign of appreciation for their work.

If any of the mod author wishes for their respective class to be removed, pm me and perhaps, we could discuss about it.

Current version : v10

General Changes
- Implemented edited version of TL1 Rifles mod. Original mod was made by RnF, so credit goes to him. All I did is to change the missile so that it would aim better.
- Panther pet gets more skins, taken from other mods. Credit goes to bran, ChucktownTiger and spark for their work.
- Fixed Archer's class portrait conflicting with Mongol Archer class from FEP.
- Corrected a Dragoon's skill icon that was missing.. again.
- Corrected a skill conflict between Ember Sage and Monster Hunter class from FEP.
- Fixed a conflict between Emberblade and Destroyer class from TL1CP
- Fixed a mistake in Archer's Seeking Arrow that could render the skill unable to fire any missiles.
- Fixed Monk's Kiai missing affixes for level 6 and 14
- Fixed Monk's Summon Elemental wrong affixes at level 4
- Fixed Monk's Immovable Stance wrong affixes at level 15
- Added Sushi to general merchant that can transform pet permanently into Chibi Miku or Young Guardian.


Class Changes
Lightwarden
- Fireblade: Renamed to Ruination. Maximum skill level is increased to 15. Fixed its toggle functionality, give it new effects and tier effects.
- Guardian Stance : Renamed to Resilient. Rebalanced the effects.
- Energy Stance : Renamed to Resurgence. New tier effects.
- Added 30 sec cooldown to those 3 toggleable skills.
- Eruption : Cooldown is reduced to 2 sec.
- StatisField : New tier effects. Cooldown is increased to 10 sec.
- LightningBlade : Cooldown is reduced to 6 sec.
- Grandmaster's Might : Cooldown is reduced to 2.5 sec.
- Muster for Battle : Cooldown is reduced to 10 sec.
- Holy Nova : Cooldown is reduced to 5 sec.
- Holy Ground : New tier effects.

Dragoon
- Increase the mana cost of some skills

Archer
- Ballista : Set the skill cooldown to 1 sec.
- Barrage : Decreased cast speed.
- Bear Trap : Cooldown is increased to 5 sec.
- Charged Arrow : Increased cast speed. Set the skill cooldown to 2 sec.
- Freezing Arrow : Increased cast speed. Set the skill cooldown to 4 sec.
- Immolation Arrow : Increased cast speed. Set the skill cooldown to 3 sec.
- Noxious Arrow : Cooldown is increased to 5 sec. DoT duration is decreased.
- Seeking Arrow : Increased cast speed. Set the skill cooldown to 1.5 sec.
- Spike Trap : Cooldown is increased to 5 sec.
- Split Arrow : Decreased cast speed.
- Rift Arrow : Set the skill cooldown to 3 sec, reduced by 0.1 sec at each level.
- Translocation Arrow : Cooldown is increased to 4 sec, tier effects can decrease it to 2 sec.
- Impale : Set the skill cooldown to 0.5 sec.

Assassin
- Snipe : Cooldown is increased to 2 sec, tier effects can decrease it to 0.5 sec
- Rigged to Blow : Minion's HP percentage to trigger the damage is increased

Druid
- Roar : Cooldown is removed
- Hurl Boulder : Set the skill cooldown to 1.5 sec
- Fury : Cooldown is decreased to 3 sec
- Earthquake : Cooldown is decreased to 0.5 sec
- Twister : Set the skill cooldown to 1 sec
- Cyclone : Cooldown is decreased to 15 sec
- Claw Mastery : Change physical damage bonus to dual wielding damage bonus

Monk
- Nerfed the attack speed of Fist Wrap (from 0.68>0.80)
- Slightly nerfed the damage of Fist Wrap across all levels
- Shockwave : Entirely remove the DPS %
- Spinning Back Kick : Set the skill cooldown to 1.5 sec. Halved the charge % generated by the skill.
- Kiai : Set the skill cooldown to 5 sec, the debuff duration is decreased to 5 sec.
- Burning Fist : Halved the DPS %
- Frozen Fist : Halved the DPS %, added a small Ice DoT
- Corona : Halved the damage taken %
- Supernova : Cooldown is increased to 5 sec
- Solar Eclipse : Cooldown is increased to 4 sec
- Sunrays : Decreased range, damage, missile speed and missile count. New tier effects.
- Icicles : Decreased range, missile speed and missile count. New tier effects.
- Umbra : Slightly decreased the shield damage absorption
- Northern Lights : Decreased the reflect chance
- Immovable Stance : Nerfed effects
- Full Moon : Nerfed effects
- Unarmed Combat : Nerfed execute chance
- Toughness : Only increases armor, including elemental ones.

Double Agent
- Full Guard : Nerfed the mana recovery. It was unintentionally way too high.

General Changes
- The Companion of War's skin will be available as an option for Panther pet. Effectively the Companion of War pet is removed from the mod to avoid redundancy.
- Corrected the skill icon conflict between Red Mage and Ninja class from FEP
- Fixed Theolentist's Sepulcher for not summoning anything despite using the correct Bind spell.
- Fixed some Throwing Knives that crashes the game upon attacking.

Class Changes
Emberblade
- Replaced the animation during character creation into something simpler.
- New character now starts with a shield.
- Added a hidden passive that increases charge rate by 10%. As a trade off, the charge bar will deplete faster.
- Nerfed Thunderstrike damage by half and increased its cast speed.
- Cinderslash burn damage is doubled. Added 1 sec cooldown to it. Rewritten the tier effect description, and the tier 2 effect is reduced. Usable only with 1h sword, mace or axe.
- Increased the duration of Sword Dance summons to 20 sec to match the skill cooldown.

Double Agent
- Phantom Blade damage is nerfed by 33-50%. Set the skill cooldown to 2 sec.
- War Cry cooldown is reduced to 6 sec. Debuff duration is set to 3 sec, increases by 0.5 sec at each tier.
- Full Guard cooldown is increased to 16 sec. The dps to armor conversion is added to early levels, which further increased at each tier. Mana recovery is boosted.
- Level 5 Full Guard affixes should be displayed correctly. (It was unintentionally hidden by the original author)
- Shield Barge : Removed the cooldown, damage multiplier is increased to 6x/9x/12x/15x. Increased the attack speed buff to 30%, adds movement speed buff. Replace stun effect with interrupt effect.
- Acid Layer : Removed the cooldown, increased the mana cost and the tier 1 effect is nerfed.
- Removed the cooldown of Fire Eater.
- Ring of Fire : Increased the mana cost and cast speed. Nerfed the damage and shield break chance. Axe exclusive skill.
- Pressure Split : Removed the cooldown, knockback and movespeed buff. Nerfed the damage and stun duration. Added degrade armor effect that stacks and last for 2 sec. New tier 2 and 3 effects.
- Nerfed the damage of Flash Counter. Shield exclusive skill.
- Copper and Zinc cooldown is reduced to 6 sec.
- Prismatic Armor cooldown is reduced to 12 sec.
- Lightning Rod cooldown is reduced to 6 sec. Polearm exclusive skill.
- Sword Rain cooldown is reduced to 5 sec. Sword exclusive skill.
- Shakedown cooldown is increased to 20 sec.

Legionary
- Boosted the movement speed of the Specter Sword summon. Decreased the skill cooldown to 60 sec to match the summon duration.
- Removed mace from Razor Sharp requirement, meaning mace weapon would no longer benefit from the passive.
- Increased the cast speed of Gravity Field by 33%.
- Increased Lacerate's ignore armor to 30/40/50/60%


Plaguelord
- Fixed missing skill particles for Plague Burn.
- Added 2 sec cooldown to Plague Burn.
- Increased the mana cost of Sludge Barrage.
- Reduced the limit of slime units summoned by Sludge Barrage.
- Nerfed Overlord Grip bonuses, the skill now requires 2h melee weapon.
- Added 2.5 sec cooldown to Tentacle Eruption.

Monk
- All changes to the class, up to v.119 of the mod are implemented except the skill level requirement changes.
- Nerfed Elemental Mastery damage bonus. (This nerf is in effect since the last update)
- Nerfed the damage of Solar Wind proc by half. (This nerf is in effect since the last update)

Druid
- All changes to the class, up to v.119 of the mod are implemented

Archer
- All changes to the class, up to v.119 of the mod are implemented

Asssasin
- All changes to the class, up to v.119 of the mod are implemented

v8
- Implemented a new playable class : the Archer. It's a part of the recently updated Extra Classes (No Synergies) mod by drewrobi.
- Fixed missing hair colors for Noxmer class.
- Fixed a bug in Monk's Umbra skill that prevents the usage of Fire skills permanently.
- Fixed a bug which causes some skills to give out excess skill points upon respec.
- Drastically nerfed the drop rate of Blade Dancer's legendary sets as they were dropping far too often.

New features for this mod
1) Implemented new starting pets:
- Chibi Hatsune Miku (Credit goes to Phanjam)
- Young Guardian (Credit goes to Kva3imoda)
- Companion of War (from Barbarian class mod, credit goes to Visigoth).
They have identical base stats as other starting pets.

2) Implemented an edited version of Minigun Weapon mod.
It is using the old cooldown system that prevents the weapon to fire when overheated. Credit goes to the author, Evilneko. Drop by the author's mod page and rate it as a form of appreciation.
This version is compatible with Synergies mod, thus no longer causing any crash issue.

3) Implemented the Flamethrower weapon mod.
Original idea came from DrCarlos, his mod can be found in Runic Games forum. Here's the link to it. All credit goes to him, as I merely change the concept and turn it into a weapon mod.

v7
General changes
- Dragoon's Piercing Talon should now display the correct skill icon.
- Applied new GUID to Theolentist's Anaerobic Acolytes and Insect Plague to prevent them from crashing due to conflict with other mods.
- Fixed missing skill animations for Legionary.
- Reimplemented original hairstyle/hair color/faces option for Preacher. Note that they may slightly overlap with the new options from Preacher's Skin Addon.
- Fixed missing Bind scrolls for Theolentist's Sepulcher skill.
- Theolentist's Favor : Electron Veil level 1-4 can now be removed by Dispel Aura.

Ember Sage changes
- Flaming Bats is removed due to conflict. It is replaced with an entirely new skill,
called Fire Orb. If you have any skill points into Flaming Bats, respec them out to avoid losing skill points.
- Fixed Ice Spikes as it wasn't inflicting damage correctly.
- Tweaked a bunch of skills, some are given better effects or better tier bonus. Some tooltips are rewritten and corrected for clarification purpose.

v6
- Fixed missing quest rewards (spawnclasses) for Light Warden.
- Fixed a few missing tags from certain skills.
- Swept through the mod files and deleted a lot of unused, redundant files.. as a result the mod size is reduced considerably.
- Attempted to fix multiplayer issues caused by erroneous models, unittypes and stats files. Thanks to doudley for his findings and his ideas on how to fix it.
- Enabled every default hairstyles/hair colors/faces option to all custom classes in this mod.

v5
- Fixed missing quest rewards (spawnclasses) for Emberknight.
- Implemented a new playable class : the Preacher, with the Preacher skin addon by Anarch16sync
- Implemented a new playable class : Plaguelord.
- Corrected a few typos in Plaguelord file naming.

- Fixed the crash bug that occurs when hovering over the Theolentist's Nova skill icon.

Important notes
Spoiler
- Some of these classes are intended to be really powerful by their original authors and can clear the base game easily even at Elite/Hardcore difficulty. The use of difficulty mods like Synergies or LAO III are highly recommended.
- Dark Hunter (originally from Noxmer/Darklite class mod) is removed due to being incomplete.
- Warchief's old starting skill, Shockwave, is restored. Massive Swing is removed as a result.
- Elemental Blade Dancer and Red Mage class are fully playable for Linux user, thanks to @doudley's fix.
- If you found any skills that either : crashes the game upon usage, has blank skill icon or missing their skill animation, please notify us. There could be a conflict between the skill and another mod that you use.

Known issues
Spoiler
- Plaguelord's Body Boost works erratically at times.
- Incompatible with Darkthan's Classes and Darkthan's Classes 2.
- May conflict with Far East Pack 1 and 2 mods. Use my FEP compilation, FEP+ for better compatibility.
- Minor conflict with TL2 Essentials. Place Variant on top of Essentials for better compatibility.
- Certain classes are prone to crashing issue during multiplayer/co-op games. Usually occurs when transitioning from one area to another.
- Red Mage, Theolentist and Ember Sage class are prone to crashing issue for Mac user. Due to the lack of information regarding mod compatibility with Mac OS, this issue is unlikely to be fixed.

FAQ

Q - Would you merge other class mod into this pack?
A - Yes. However if the class mod rehash skills from vanilla classes and the author doesn't even bother to modify the skill affixes, skill names nor the descriptions.. it would be suited for my other class compilation, Parallel Classes.

Q - Nothing happens when I try to use Druid's Wolf Strike. Help!
A - You'll need to face a targetable unit for the skill to work.

Q - Monk's Solar Wind doesn't seems to be activating at all.
A - The skill requires the target to be under burning status.

Reminder :
It is not advised to unpack this mod as it will break the tags/codes of some skills. GUTS will throw a bunch of errors e.g  "found property name with a hashcode XX that has no match in tags. dat" during the unpacking process. That error is called broken tags.

Broken tags can cause a certain aspect in a mod to be.. well, broken. If a broken tags occurs in a skill code, it can possibly renders the skill to be malfunction, or even crashes the game.

Okay, done. Also Blade Dancer is pretty much Elemental Blade Dancer.

If anyone ask about the font used, its not included in the mod. The name of the font mod is
DroidLight.

@doudley I downloaded and tested the Steam version of the mod.. and I got a bad news.

Some of the old bugs keeps popping back.
It seems that this mod can't be decompiled as it would break some of the skills and causes missing tags again. :(

@RnF Probably not a good idea due to above issues.

Edit : If you want, I could probably.. sent you the Media folder of Variant v4 and let you compile it and upload to Steam.

Are you interested in adding more classes? People in Steam are intrigued by your mod pack, your subscribers has skyrocketed since the day I uploaded it. ;D

Also, is the mod pack has no issues with multiplayer mode?

Depends on what class. If its a class that reuses every existing vanilla skills (usually the mod is less than 1mb) then probably no.

I'm interested in adding the Plaguelord but I can't seem to pinpoint what's the forget spell issue is about.

I never tested the mod in multiplayer.. or even using Synergies with it. 

Darkthan's classes? No. The conflict with Wildling and Plaguelord is likely because he uses some of those classes skill into his own classes.  Fixing those is gonna be complicated, just like fixing Far East Expansion.
