question [DURATION] Twinkletoe's description is incorrect, i have tested it and confirmed it is damage per second by default, setting the affix duration will not cause the skill to function as he described.
Line 70: Line 70:
 ====DURATION==== ====DURATION====

-Sets the duration.  Possibilities are 0, INSTANT, ALWAYS or any number of your choice.  Note that ALWAYS just means until the Effect ends.  This can occur because its associated affix or skill's duration ends or the effect is forcibly removed.   +Sets the duration.  Possibilities are 0, INSTANT, ALWAYS or any number of your choice.  Note that ALWAYS just means until the Effect ends.  This can occur because its associated affix or skill's duration ends or the effect is forcibly removed. For damage over time skills, the damage is PER second and not divided by the duration.

-TwinkleToes has a lot to say about the intricacies of the DURATION field: +
- +
-“duration 0 is for cosmetic purposes and to do manual duration setting via affixes, setting the duration to 0 on a damage buff for instance then having the affix duration be a number will cause the affix display to override the duration so you get (x% damage bonus for x seconds) +
- +
-setting the duration to ALWAYS on the effect will cause it to display differently (x% damage), you can then set a duration on the affix(10 sec) but the display will remain the same (x% damage) however the buff/debuff display will have the 10 second duration you set on your affix +
- +
-this interaction also changes how DoT effects are calculated, having ALWAYS and a affix duration will cause the DoT to quantify the total damage and spread it out over the duration,if you set the damage to 10 it will deal the damage over those 10 seconds.. so, 1 damage per second +
- +
-having 0 as the effect duration and an affix duration(10) will not spread the DoT over its duration but deal the damage you've input into the effect 10 times over 10 seconds, so you'll end up dealing 100 damage over 10 seconds “ +
- +
-Note that affix duration is referring specifically to the duration listed in the affix editor, not the duration listed for the affix in the skill editor.+
